About Real Karate
Real Karate is a community-run map and calendar for karate in all its forms — traditional, sport, full-contact, practical and budō— and the wider martial arts community. It’s built and maintained by the community: anyone can browse for free, and a free account lets you add and manage clubs and events.
Why Real Karate exists
Finding the right martial arts club is harder than it should be. Move to a new town, want to cross-train, or just getting started, and there’s no single place to see what’s actually near you — so good clubs stay hidden and people give up looking. The map puts every listed club in one place.
It’s just as hard to plan ahead as a student. Competitions, gradings, seminars and courses are scattered across federation sites, closed social groups and word of mouth, and usually surface too late to enter or book the time off. A shared calendarlets you see what’s coming and plan for it.
And for the clubs and organisations running those events, the hardest part is often simply being seen: a great seminar or tournament falls flat when the people who’d come never hear about it in time. Listing a club on the map and an event on the calendar puts both in front of the students who are already looking.
Who it’s for
- Every style of karate — traditional and sport karate (Shotokan, Wado-Ryu, Shito-Ryu, Shukokai and the WKF / JKA family), full-contact and knockdown (Kyokushin and its organisations incl. Kenbukai Kyokushin and Kyokushin Budo Kai, Shinkyokushin, Ashihara, Enshin, Seidokaikan, Kudo/Daido Juku), Goju-Ryu, Shorin-Ryu and more — every grade and every organisation, from the first lesson to the podium.
- The wider martial arts community — Muay Thai, MMA, BJJ, Judo, Krav Maga, Boxing, Tae Kwon Do, Tang Soo Do, Hapkido, Wing Chun, Shorinji Kempo, Filipino martial arts (Arnis/Kali/Escrima) and self-defence are just as welcome.
Whatever you train for — competition or the next grading, the ring or the tatami, self-defence or fitness, tradition or full-contact — you belong here. The tent is broad and the door is open to everyone who loves martial arts.
How listings are checked
New submissions are screened automatically for spam, abuse and unsafe links, and most go live within seconds. Anything unclear is held briefly for human review. You can report any listing, and you can edit or remove your own at any time.
Languages
The interface is available in several languages, and listing descriptions are translated automatically for visitors — write in whatever language you like.
