Welcome to the Anshin Kai or calm Mind Club. Our instructors have over 60 years of combined Martial Arts training experience. Unlike many instructors, we at the Anshin Kai continue to educate ourselves so that we can enhance our knowledge and bringing you the best training experience possible.

Mr. Jeff Sullens – Chief instructor at the Anshin Kai. Mr. Jeff has trained Goju Ryu Karate for over 25 years, and holds a 4th degree black belt. In addition to Goju Ryu karate, Mr. Jeff has completed Level I and Level II Modern Army Combatives Program and the FBI Defensive Tactics and Pressure Point Control Tactics Instructors course (given by MPTC). Mr. Jeff has operated several community based martial arts programs since 1998. He has a wealth of teaching experience having trained both civilian and government personnel.


Mr. Pat Polvinale – Instructor at the Anshin Kai. Mr. Pat has trained in Goju Ryu Karate for over 30 years. In addition to holding a 3rd degree black belt in Goju Ryu karate, Mr. Pat also holds a 2nd degree black belt in Seido karate. Mr. Pat brings many years of teaching experience to the Anshin Kai and is excellent with kids and adults alike.

Mr. Rick Martini – Assistant instructor at Anshin Kai. Mr. Rick brings 4 years of Kenpo and 4 years of Aikido training to our dojo. Mr. Rick assists with both kids and adults and has become a valuable resource to Anshin Kai Martial Arts.

Mrs. “D” – Assistant instructor at Anshin Kai Martial Arts. Mrs. “D” brings 13 years of Ishhin Ryu Karate training with her to our dojo. Mrs. “D” primarily helps teach both of our kids programs where she does an amazing job. She runs a disciplined class with just the right amount of fun to keep the kids motivated. Mrs. ‘D” has been a great addition to Anshin Kai Martial Arts.


Our Martial Arts Program – The primary martial art taught at the Anshin Kai is Okinawan Goju Ryu karate. Goju Ryu is one of the four original styles of karate in Okinawa. Goju Ryu karate is a very broad martial art combining techniques of striking, trapping, joint locking and throwing. Goju Ryu karate, like most Okinawan systems; was designed for real people to be able to protect themselves in a violent encounter. The training is also designed to enhance all areas of the student’s life through hard work, building both mental and physical stamina and the confidence to go through daily life calm and focused. ” If your temper rises lower your fist- if your fist rises lower your temper” Chojun Miyagi – Founder of Goju Ryu Karate.
